Situation : This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and spacious apartments in Paris, in a stately renovated Haussmannian building of the Napoleon III era (1850's to 1870's), on the Quai des Celestins which is adjacent to the river Seine, just across the water from the Île Saint Louis.

Description : Enter from the street through heavy wrought iron and glass doors, and take the marble and carpeted stairway (or elevator) to the second floor, where huge carved wooden doors open into a spacious, elegantly panelled entry foyer, then into the first of two salons (living rooms), filled with warm antiques, art and oriental rugs. The second, larger salon has a marble mantel, comfortable sofas and chairs, numerous cozy places to settle in for reading or conversation and a huge flat screen TV. And there's more - a comfortable, separate dining room decorated with a magnificent Louis XIII cabinet, a long corridor leading to two bedrooms, two baths, a large, renovated, eat-in kitchen, a water closet and laundry room. And location? Couldn't be more perfect. You can be in the Louvre in about 6 minutes, the Opéra Garnier and Grands Magazins (department stores) in 10, or go by foot in about 30. And on Sundays, the highway along the Seine is closed to cars, and you can walk or bike along the river all the way from your apartment to the Alexander Bridge and Grand and Petit Palais, then on to the Eiffel Tower if your energy permits.

This is truly a grand apartment, beautifully decorated and maintained, very large (about 150 square meters), and you will feel as if you are living among the Parisian aristocracy -because you are!

Our family sought an authentic Parisian experience in both residential and location, and this apartment was perfect. We truly felt like we had stepped back in time with the décor and furnishings. Our concierge welcomed us at the door upon arrival and showed us the apartment as well as provide neighborhood recommendations for a variety of food experiences. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Marais neighborhood and the Metro station at our doorstep made travel throughout the city easy (after studying the map rather intensely). A great stay for us and our adult son, who is the world traveler and explorer.

We really enjoyed the apartment. It was big enough for two couples and the location is good. Loved the furniture, windows and art. The housekeeping service was very good and all the principals were very nice and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this for a family or two couples. There really is nothing about the entire experience that I would change (except perhaps having to make the final payment in Euros instead of on a credit card or in dollars.) Great place to call home in Paris.

This apartment is truly wonderful. We had 4 people, and it gave us plenty of space to relax after some long days in the city. It is beautifully furnished and comfortable, with all of the conveniences of home. We loved the quick access to the Metro stop, and the location on the river and near Jardin des Plantes and Jardin du Luxembourg was so nice for our morning runs. There are grocery stores, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, etc. within blocks. Mathias, the concierge, was extremely responsive and helped us arrange to store our luggage for a few days and have a driver meet us with the luggage at the train station on a tight schedule. The housekeeper was also delightful - with our limited French language skills, we communicated in Spanish and with charades! We could not have had a better place to stay while in Paris.

Thank you for a lovely holiday at the Proust Apartment. Our holday began with an introduction to the apartment by the concierge, who also set-up a beautiful welcome breakfast of fruit, cheese and croissants. The apartment is conveniently located and steps away from the Sully-Moreland Metro stop. The apartment was perfect as a home base for the week we vacationed in Paris.
The entire "Our Home in Paris" team did everyting they could to make our holiday a complete success. We look forward to staying in another "Our Home in Paris" property as travel plans will allow.

PERFECT! Location great, apartment very large and well equipped kitchen. First visit for my daughter-in-law and she loved it. Mark was great, and had all the answers to our questions. Would recommend. Have rented from Jim before and both apartments have been great.

A grand place to stay--- roomy, comfortable, interesting artifacts along with modern amenities in baths and kitchen;great location with easy access to the many Paris sites. Loved the nearby bakery and grocery store, too.

Our short visit to Paris was made all the more enjoyable by the wonderful accommodations and concierge support provided before and during our stay.

The "Celestins" apartment was even better than the photographs implied with plenty of old world charm complemented by modern bathrooms (a walk-in shower!), good beds and a modern kitchen. The location is simply unbeatable with a view of the Seine, easy walking distance to Ile St. Louis and Ile de la Cite' and the metro outside the front door.

Concierge support was excellent and included help in planning the trip, arranging train station and airport transfers and support during our stay. We had high expectations for the eateries reccommended and were not disappointed.

What a wonderful apartment. We were there for 8 nights with another couple and we all agreed that we would rent it again in a heartbeat. Great location, beautiful art, furnishings and rugs. Overall an "old Paris" feel to the apartment that really enhanced our stay. Made a few dinners at the apartment. The kitchen had everything we needed, and eating in the dining room added a touch of elegance to the meal. The beds were very comfortable, which is important to me. Yes, you can hear street noise through the windows, and it is very loud if the windows are open. However the bedrooms were quiet, and we got used to the street noise after the first day. More important, it did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the space. The bathrooms could use better lighting, but again, it was just something we accepted. Our concierge Marc, and Mathias(who initially welcomed us to the apt) were extremely nice and helpful. Marc had good restaurant recommendations and was kind enough to make reservations for us. Everyone involved with the apartment, including Jim and Dottie, were professional, communicative and committed to making sure we enjoyed our Paris experience. Thanks and see you next year.

Our family of four enjoyed the apartment, location, and overall environment. With windows open at night, the street and nearby park could be noisy, so be prepared. The apartment itself is extraordinarily charming and elegant, with period furnishings and art, yet with modern conveniences throughout (updated baths, W/D, kitchen, etc). Location means everything in Paris, and we were able to walk to most attractions, shops, etc. Further, the nearest Metro station is directly in front of the building! Finally, our concierge, Marc, could not have been more helpful or responsive.

My husband and I and another couple spent eight days in this lovely apartment and didn’t want to leave it, much less Paris. We literally could have been happy staying there and never going out to sightsee. Of course we did, but it truly is as the description states, surely one of the most beautiful and spacious apartments in the city. We had all been to Paris before but this trip was to celebrate a special occasion, sort of a once in a lifetime event and we didn't want to stay in a hotel. I had spent countless hours looking for the perfect place. Somewhere big enough for two couples to share and not be on top of each other…with queen size beds and two bathrooms, two showers (with amazing water pressure!) and a tub as well, and a full kitchen and laundry facilities and an elevator. I kept coming back to this apartment online because it looked perfect but I just couldn’t believe that all was as it seemed. But after talking to Audey in Atlanta I decided to book it. I was so much more beautiful and well-appointed than I ever imagined. It’s full of antiques, the kind that give a place infinite character and that you can use and enjoy. The two salons had so many inviting places to sit that you just wanted to take a book and move from sofa to chair to reading nook and back again. It has five balconies, it’s three steps to the Metro out the front door and three stops to the Louvre. There’s a huge flower shop on the first floor and dozens of wonderful cafes within a 10 minute walk. And it’s completely secure and safe. We originally thought that we wanted to be in St. Germaine…but the Maris is incredible…tiny winding streets with the most wonderful shops and restaurants tucked here and there. And so vibrant! And our apartment was a 10 minute walk to Notre Dame. Mathias, our concierge, was knowledgeable and helpful and there if we needed him 24/7. It’s impossible to overstate how perfect this place is. Anyone who chooses to stay here is destined for a magnificent experience.

We recently spent 10 days in the Celestins apartment and enjoyed every minute. This spacious, well appointed apartment is perfectly located for visitors to Paris. Its central location encourages walking to various sites, shopping, and restaurants and there are two handy Metro stops close by for longer journeys. It was a pleasure returning "home" in the evening to find elegance, comfort, and quiet space. We would definitely return here and would recommend the staff and apartment to friends.

Just spent 4 nights at this wonderful apartment. We were two couples ending a trip to Croatia and Slovenia. The apartment is better than the photos. Absolutely full of wonderful art, comfortable and the metro stop outside the door makes getting around a breeze. It was lovely to be able to come home for a late lunch and then venture out again into the crowds feeling refreshed. My husband summarized the apartment this way....you've gone to visit an elegant "National Trust Building" except you've stepped over the rope! Do hope to come back to this exquisite apartment and thank you to Marc as well for his great service.

This was a great place to stay! Metro steps outside the front, short walk to Notre Dame, Isle St.Luis, Place des Voges. The Marais district is intriguing and at your doorstep. We walked across the street at night and drank wine on the banks of the Seine. Truly a Pairs delight while staying in this intoxicating city!

Marc was at our beck and call the entire time.

My two girlfriends and I have just had the quintessential Parisian experience staying in this apartment! We were overwhelmed by the spaciousness and the old world grandeur as we entered the apartment through the stately wooden double doors from the winding staircase (there is an elevator, as well). Marc, who met us upon our arrival from the airport, gave us a full introduction to the apartment including all it's modern day amenities making us instantly comfortable in our new home. The two handsome living rooms with wooden panelling are warmly furnished with comfortable seating and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the streets below. Not only is the apartment wonderful, but it's location could not be better. The Marais is a wonderful neighborhood full of history, shops, bistros and cafes. Just steps from the front door is the Metro, Ile Saint Louis, and the Seine. The housekeeper visited twice during the six days, keeping the apartment in mint condition. We were able to dine-in when we felt like it and even gave a dinner party!, taking advantage of the full kitchen facilities and the beautifully appointed dining room. We also enjoyed delicious meals at local cafes and brasseries. Working with Jim in the reservation process was so easy and all the details of the rental were clearly explained. Marc, part of the team in Paris, was always available and quick to solve any dilemma we might have and had many suggestions for tours and sights. Their combined attention to detail made the visit flawless! This was a most memorable trip for the three of us and staying at Celestins added to it immeasurably. We recommend highly working with Jim and his team and look forward to booking with him again in the near future.

Four of us stayed in this wonderful apartment during a trip to watch a little tennis at the French Open. I rented an apartment before while in Rome and loved the experience, so I wanted to try again. Little did I know what wonderful care Marc, Mathias and Jim would take of us! Marc was very flexible when it came time to check in (our plane was 5 hours late from Atlanta!) and showed us everything we needed. (Silly me - I brought my own dishwashing soap, laundry soap, etc. but absolutely everything you needed was there! It was truly a home away from home.) I emailed Marc a few months before our trip with several odd questions (Where would you shop for antique wine goblets? Where is the best ice cream? Where would you find the best palmier?) – he responded immediately. Marc's recommendations for dining, shopping, sightseeing, transportation, etc. were perfect. We had one glitch – on Saturday morning our keys wouldn't open the locks and we were locked out. I called Marc, who was out of town, but he called Mathias who showed up within 5 minutes, offered us another apartment while waiting for the locksmith, and within 2 hours we were able to get back into the apartment with no problem. That's the kind of attention to detail you get and that's how it was the entire stay. I've already spoken to Jim about renting a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment from them for a month - I hope next year! Thanks to all, Marc, Mathias and Jim for a wonderful stay. Alice P .

Delightful, beautiful property in a great location. There's a good deal of street noise in the daytime and evening, but nothing excessive. The beds are a bit smaller than expected but comfy. Plenty of room for 2 couples. We all loved it.

The apartment was wonderful, spacious, filled with antiques, comfortable and situated right in the heart of Paris, with easy access to all other areas. We look forward to coming back and staying here again. Thank you, Merci Beaucoup!

I stayed for 10 days with my sister and two nieces. We absolutely loved the apt! Great location, very comfortable and the kitchen was a huge plus. We held 2 dinner parties during our stay. I love the Marais...great neighborhood and the cafe recommended to us (Bobar) was lovely...very friendly staff/owners. The hotel was very helpful and the pick-up/return to the airport was seamless. Also we enjoyed the pleasant help from Carmella the young lady who cleaned the apt for us. All in a all, we had a great time and I would definitely stay at the apt in the future.

We have just returned from an amazing five-day first visit to the beautiful city of Paris. Our stay in this exquisite 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment just across from the Seine and Ile Ste Louis was perfect. The elegantly appointed rooms were very comfortable and allowed for privacy for two couples. We walked to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Musee D'Orsay, the left bank and many other places. At the end of the day, we found our way by Metro to the Sully-Moreland stop which is just a few steps from the front door. The local bistros, brasseries and restaurants are delightful, as is the flower shop just downstairs. Many thanks to the gracious and helpful staff at Hotel St Louis Marais, the owners of the apartment and Jim for creating a wonderful Parisian experience!

C'est magnifique! Everything about our stay in the beautiful apartment on Quai de Celestins was excellent. The location perfect-metro stop at the front door, walk across the bridge to Isle St. Louis or to the right to the wonderful Place des Voges and the Marais. The size incredible - two sitting rooms, large dining room, TWO fabulous bathrooms, two comfortable bedrooms, well-equipped kitchen and the laundry room a true bonus. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. Service to and from the airport was great. We would return without hesitation to the apartment and hope we have the opportunity to do so. We will also recommend it without hesitation. Merci beaucoup! -- Janet
